This month we interviewed our Production Manager, Izzi Rix. People are at the heart of everything we do. Learn more about the TROers behind the magic, their own stories and passions, and what’s on their radar.
My role as a Production Manager is all about turning ideas into reality. Ideally, I’ll be involved right from the start, taking new briefs and helping shape them into a buildable concept. By advising on feasibility and design with practical considerations early on, I can help creative ideas stay bold while making sure they’re realistic and achievable.
Once a project is underway, I’m responsible for everything from managing budgets, timelines, including the full build process, coordinating everything from materials and suppliers to on-site delivery and derig. Maintaining a hands-on, solutions-focused approach, I balance many aspects to make sure each project is delivered on time and to a high standard.
Onsite Production Management requires a mix of calm problem-solving and attention to detail. I have to have a very proactive mindset. Remaining organised yet adaptable is the key, even when things (inevitably) change at the last minute!
I’ve been at TRO for 4.5 years.
I love love love travelling, experiencing new places and meeting new people. This is super useful when working in new locations across the world, when being up for exploring and adapting to your environment is essential to success. Having a trip planned is what really motivates me. I recently went on a road trip across Switzerland, France and Italy and to Morocco with a group of strangers! Getting outdoors plays a huge part in my travelling and hiking is one of my favourite ways to explore a new place.
In my down time I can either be found curled up with a book, watching TV or at the cinema. I consume pretty much all genres and pride myself on having the perfect recommendation up my sleeve (just ask the TRO Binge & Browse club 😉) I am always bringing books into the office and forcing them on those I think will enjoy them, and will never say no to debriefing your fave new show. As well as it being a great point of connection and conversation starter, consuming fiction also provides insight into other people’s perspectives and builds empathy! (READ HERE)
Aside from all that, I also enjoy a good video essay on YouTube and staying in the know when it comes to brand and marketing. Fashion trend predictions and the rise of anti-intellectualism are some current favourite topics!
I’ve been lucky enough to work on some amazing projects during my time at TRO. Last Summer I delivered a stand for Pepsi at the WUCL Fan Festival, which was my first time managing a site abroad – a huge deal! The activation was reworking a previous build from 2024 and adapting it for the site restrictions at Praca do Comercio in Lisbon. I absolutely love Lisbon, so it was so cool getting to spend an extended period in the city. What made this event even more of a standout was the crew I was onsite with. Having a team who are all on the same page, can remain positive and are dedicated to getting the work done to an impeccable standard is what teamwork at TRO is all about. And this team really shone!
Working with Pepsi is great as they sponsor some amazing events and are really up for it creatively. Someone like Hoka, Peak Performance or The North Face, who all do some fun and adventurous excursions, would be sick! Also, a publishing house that wants to engage with their audience would have so much potential!
Experience can come from anywhere at any time, so stay open to new opportunities.
